Ask not do you want to work with us, but do we want to work with you?
Too often homeowners approach a builder with the wrong question in their mind: Do I want to work with this builder?
This is the wrong question (at least from the builder's point of view). The proper question is: Does this builder want to work with me?
We are going to answer that question for you today.
The short of it is this: if you are a dooshbag - we do not want to work with you. We are not dooshbags, and so prefer to work with other people who are not dooshbags.
What is a dooshbag? - you may ask yourself. After all, isn't that quite subjective?
Well, we would say that some of it can be quite subjective, but there is also clearly quite objective being-a-dooshbag. Because this is an educational blog, I will elaborate. A dooshbag includes: xxxx.
Having said that, at Building Professionals, we pride ourselves on our sense of fairness. In this respect, we are a bit like criminal lawyers - in that, if you are in the queue for the next cab in the rank, we will do our best to work with you until you confess that you have in fact committed that murder. After all, at Building Professionals we believe everyone deserves a quality home - even dooshbags.
Why the new website?
Somehow, for the last 15+ years, we have managed to secure most of our projects by word-of-mouth. The odd one has come from a we-saw-a-house-you-were-working-on cold call, but otherwise pretty much all our projects have been from word-of-mouth.
In recent years, however, we have been wanting to change direction. We have been wanting to build our own home, and in that process we have upskilled in passiv haus and building biology... let's just say, those things which are paradoxically so fundamental for a high quality, healthy home, yet still so "niche"... and because it's so niche, we realise we have to now venture out of the comfort zone and actually try talk about ourselves - indeed even market ourselves - so we can discover the other inhabitants of this scattered niche. We did have a go with an old website a few years ago, but gosh that was tiresome. We aren't the type who use social media that much, or indeed talking about ourselves. But here we are. And so here is our new website. We hope you like it and that the algorithm has somehow brought you to us because you are interested in the same niche we are.
